32 Annual Report | 2023-2024 EVERY FAMILY has its traditions. Contributing to and supporting St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, the Christian Brothers and a catholic education as a whole, has been a tradition in the Collard family for generations. Since 1953, nine Collard men have attended St. Joe’s, including my father, Dr. Timothy Collard ‘60, four uncles, two brothers, myself, a proud graduate of the class of 1994 and my son, Gavin Collard ’26. If you count extended family, a total of 14 men in our family have graduated St. Joe’s. My maternal grandfather, Fred Weisbeck, was the first family member to graduate from St. Joe’s as part of the class of 1925! So, needless to say, St. Joe’s is woven into the fabric of our lives. With such a strong family legacy and an even stronger belief in the mission of the school, it felt only fitting that we establish endowment funds to help ensure other young men experience the St. Joe’s Brotherhood. The Mr. and Mrs. Eugene B. Collard Sr. Endowment Fund was established in 1995 to honor my grandparents. In 1998, my parents, Timothy and Patricia Collard, established the Vera M. Weisbeck Endowment Fund for Sons of Nurses in honor of my maternal grandmother. More recently, my wife, Jackie Collard, and I established the Dr. Timothy ‘60 and Patricia Collard Endowment Fund in honor of my parents. Written By: Mark Collard ’94 A LEGACY OF TRADITION THE COLLARD FAMILY’S CONTRIBUTIONS TO ST. JOE’S STUDENTS These endowments are designed to carry forward the Lasallian tradition by helping prospective students in need access a Catholic education, giving them the chance to create their own legacies. On a personal level, our contributions are a way of giving back to the institution that has played such a vital role in shaping our family. Just as a family lineage defines who we become, the schools we attend become woven into the fabric of our lives, influencing our values, guiding our ambitions, and shaping the legacy we leave behind. Through these endowments, we hope to ensure that future generations can experience the transformative power of a St. Joe’s education, just as we have for nearly a century.
